Back to training
After seven days of no training, I ran an easy five miles this afternoon. The weather was nice and despite knowing that we probably weren't going terribly fast, it was good to start things up again. It's strange how after a week of not doing anything, training and the routine that accompanies it seems not as enticing as it was. Never wanting to miss a workout turns into the opposite and taking another day of recovery sounds much better. But after the first few sessions are over with, the routine is what you want again and you can't imagine it being any other way. At least that's how it is for me, fair to say I wouldn't imagine that the way things are for me is necessarily how they are for other people. Sport and training are such personal things, both with regard to what is most productive for each individual and for the attitude associated with those things. That's part of what makes a successful coach good, being able to adapt to the differences between individuals while maintaining the same core principles of training. It'll surely get easier before it gets harder.
