Cross Country

Nick and Sierra picked up Lee and I this morning for the Spartan Invite at Michigan State, not a bad drive and with the four of us in the car, it passed quickly. We got to the meet and there are some really nice golf courses there, one on either side of the road, which, if they get to train on them, must be fantastic soft surface. I bet if you did perimeter loops you could run for a while and not get too bored, plus save your legs. We warmed up and got to see the Michigan Women compete, there were a number of faces I didn't recognize but I definitely recognized D and KP out front looking strong, along with lots of other UM runners.

Race numbers on and sweats off, I stood in the box with Lee and Nick, grabbed a water bottle and jogged off as they started. They both looked smooth and Nick was quickly at the front of the race with the leader. After the race we spent time at the Michigan Rehabilitation Specialists, Running Institute tent with some great people, Nick signed some pictures and gave them away to the kids. It was a lot of fun to be out at a race again. Aside from some traffic on the way back and a Subway stop, the trip was uneventful, with the exception that we did get to see some of Nicks legendary dance moves.

The clinic, and more importantly, the people I've met who are involved are fantastic, encouraging, and supportive not to mention just nice people. I'm so thankful to be able to be part of a group that has them involved and behind us. I can't wait until we're in a routine and know them all by name, seeing them on a regular basis.
